Russell Westbrook had a rough Christmas night.
He shot 4-20, his plus/minus was -23, and the rim blocked him on a dunk attempt that could have cut the lead to one late in the game.
After getting blocked by the rim, Lakers fans have had enough.
They are cooking him on Twitter, but overall it was a very good game via CBS Sports.
While there were plenty of stars missing from Saturday night’s matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets, the players who did take the floor put on quite the show. After falling behind by as many as 23 points during the fourth quarter, the Lakers made a furious rally late to even things up in the final minute of regulation. In the end, however, it wasn’t enough as the Nets were able to escape from Los Angeles with a 122-115 win.
LeBron James and James Harden were unstoppable for their respective sides in this one as the two flirted with triple-doubles while also eclipsing the 30-point plateau. Patty Mills was also masterful for Brooklyn as the veteran guard knocked down eight shots from beyond the arc to finish with a career-high 34 points. Whether or not this is ultimately the type of NBA Finals preview that fans figured it could be when the season started remains to be seen but, at least for tonight, the Nets and Lakers didn’t disappoint.
It is very clear what type of player Russell Westbrook is at this point in his career. There are going to be some good games, but a lot of games like this.
The Lakers need to trade him. He just isn’t a good fit with LeBron. None of this matters if Anthony Davis isn’t healthy, but the days of Westbrook being a #1 or #2 on a team are over. He might now even be a good #3 anymore.
