Brandon Marshall’s “I AM ATHLETE” had a nice sit-down conversation with Brian Flores about his lawsuit against the NFL for racist hiring practices.
This is why it is important that we, as black people have our own media outlets to tell our stories and make sure the narratives are correct.
You can’t depend on mainstream media who are more likely to side with the league because they are in bed with the NFL.
Here is a little bit of Flores and the guys’ conversation.
Brian Flores says he harbors no ill will toward his former boss Bill Belichick, despite a text message mixup surrounding the NY Giants coaching search. In fact, Flores says he still considers Belichick the greatest coach of all time. That said, Flores says he has no regrets using the text messages in his lawsuit against the NFL because it “confirmed a lot of things I thought were going on” behind the scenes in regards to hiring practices for head coaches.
If you aren’t familiar with what happened. Flores was up for the Giants head coaching job, but they ended up hiring Brian Daboll. Belichick had gotten word in advance Daboll was being hired and went to text him congratulations. Instead, he texted Flores, who had yet to even interview with the Giants. That led to a chain of events that ended with Flores suing the NFL and certain teams for racist hiring practices.
Everyone knows this is true about the NFL, but Flores will have to prove it in court, and the NFL has some of the best lawyers in the world.
Flores just signed on to become an assistant coach with the Steelers. It took a black coach and the team behind the Rooney Rule to give Flores a job.
That says a lot.
