The trial of Eric Kay is currently going on and there are some revealing details.
Just to recap though, Kay is the former Angels employee that has been accused of supplying Tyler Skaggs the drugs that led to his untimely death.
The trial is in it’s second week and this week former Allstar pitcher Matt Harvey testified and revealed some kind of damning.
While on the stand, Harvey was asked what he partied with and he responded by saying cocaine. Harvey has also been accused of giving Skaggs the percocets that he had on him when he was found dead.
Pitchers Matt Harvey, Mike Morin and Cam Bedrosian and first baseman C.J. Cron played for the Angels during the years federal prosecutors say Eric Prescott Kay obtained drugs for players. Kay faces drug distribution and conspiracy charges.
After saying he was subpoenaed and would have used his Fifth Amendment right not to testify without immunity, Harvey acknowledged being a cocaine user before and during his season with the Angels in 2019. The former Mets star said he tried oxycodone provided by Skaggs during his season with the Angels and also provided drugs to Skaggs.
Morin and Cron testified to longer periods of getting oxycodone from Kay, while Bedrosian said he received three or four pills once and gave the rest back after taking one and not liking the way it made him feel.
Harvey thinks his career is going to be over now that he testified in court, but he won’t be going to jail because he was able to get full immunity.
It feels like this should be a bigger story national than it is. Maybe because it is baseball, if this happened in NBA or NFL I think it would be have gotten way more coverage.
Lots of things coming to light that a lot of people probably wanted to keep private.
