Kendrick Perkins isn’t a journalist.
He is an ex-player and media personality who is paid a good amount of money to say hot takes and lie on TV. He went on First Take today to say that he will never say anything bad about Kyrie Irving again after his performance against James Harden and the Sixers. You can tell he rehearsed it because it sounded really good, but there was one small problem.
He references an incident where Kyrie Irving and Harden allegedly got into a fight after Kyrie was busting Harden’s a** while playing 1-on-1.
Kyrie Irving and James Harden got into “brief” physical altercation after Kyrie called the 32 year-old superstar “Washed” during one scrimmage.
The problem with the report is it came from Ballsack Sports. Do you know how the fake WOJs and fake Adam Schefters always pop up on Twitter? Ballsack has taken it to the next level as they appear to be a Bleacher Report style site reporting the news.
The thing is, everything they report is fake, but almost 100% of the time, it goes viral, and people believe it is true.
Even people who are paid seven figures to talk to millions of people a day on the biggest media platform there is ESPN. The Big Lead actually was able to talk to the owner of the Ballsack account to get his take on what he is doing.
I aspired to be a journalist,” said Matt. “As I grew up, I kinda became a little bit turned off by it, seeing how it shifted from what I thought it was gonna be to clickbait, social media… not a lot of depth. Everyone wanted something that was quick, controversial, easy to consume.
“I wanted to start Ballsack Sports because I wanted to rile up as many people as possible under the most obscenely obvious satirical name. I thought I could do it. And so, I just kind of started making satirical quotes.”
Ironically the guy who runs the account is from Akron, Ohio, the hometown of LeBron.
