Jada Pinkett Says Will Smith “Overreacted” and Shouldn’t Have Slapped Chris Rock; Says She Doesn’t Need Will to Protect Her

Even if Jada Pinkett-Smith really feels this way, she can’t let this information get out to the public.

For years, Will Smith has been acting out of pocket on her behalf, so this is the one time she really needed to have his back regardless of whether she thinks he was justified in doing what he did. Will would have stayed in his seat if Jada had laughed at the joke.

It was her side-eye that caused him to walk on stage like an idiot and embarrass himself. Jada isn’t suffering any fallout. It is Will and Chris Rock who are the ones that this will define. This was when Jada needed to stand by her man, but according to US Weekly, she is letting people know that Will overreacted and shouldn’t have slapped Rock.

Jada Pinkett Smith “wishes he didn’t” get physical with the comedian.

“It was in the heat of the moment and it was him overreacting. He knows that, she knows that. They’re in agreement that he overreacted,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly about where the couple stands now.

During the 94th annual Academy Awards, Rock, 57, made a joke about the Girls Trip star’s shaved head. After Pinkett Smith, 50, rolled her eyes at the comment, her husband, 53, approached the stage and slapped the Saturday Night Live alum.

“Will Smith just smacked the s—t out of me,” the South Carolina native said in censored footage that later circulated online. As he returned to his seat, the Suicide Squad star yelled back at Rock to “keep my wife’s name out your f—king mouth.” The Grown Ups star responded that he wouldn’t discuss Pinkett Smith again.

According to the insider, the A Different World alum didn’t want Smith to get in an altercation to defend her. “She’s not one of these women that needs protecting. He didn’t need to do what he did, she didn’t need protecting. She’s not a wallflower,” the source shared. “She’s a strong woman, an opinionated woman and she can fight her own battles.”

I think we all can agree that Will overreacted, but for Jada, it would have been best served to leak more information of affirmation for Will than speaking about how she is a strong black woman who doesn’t need a man to protect her.

Will should really take a look in the mirror and ask himself if this marriage is making him the best or worst version of himself.

Flip the pages for all the times Jada has made Will act out of pocket.
