The former Warriors head coach Mark Jackson is the favorite to become the next Lakers coach at +125 odds according to betting sites. LeBron James’ wish for Mark Jackson to coach the Lakers could materialize looking at the odds. Here are some of the coaches that could grab the Lakers coaching job aside from favorite Mark Jackson; David Fizdale (+400), Doc Rivers (+600), Nick Nurse (+600), and Mike Brown (+800).
According to Side Action;
After the Lakers decided to part ways with head coach Frank Vogel, many coaches were linked to the gig.
Earlier in the offseason, it was reported that LeBron James would be thrilled if the team decided to hire former Warriors head coach Mark Jackson.
“And here’s a tidbit to monitor as the Lakers conduct their latest coaching search: Sources say James would be very enthused by the prospect of Mark Jackson landing the job,” The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported. “But as history tells us, that doesn’t mean it will actually happen.”
Well, apparently betting sites are currently thinking the Lakers will grant LeBron James’ wish to make Mark Jackson their next head coach.
So far, the Lakers have maintained that they have no leader, and will be doing an expansive search to find Frank Vogel’s successor. But when push comes to shove, don’t be surprised if the Lakers end up going with Mark Jackson to make his return to the bench.
Mark Jackson has been blackballed by the NBA because of some of his beliefs. Jackson who is a pastor (who once had an affair with a stripper that he was trying to convert) has said some things about gay people that have followed him since he was fired as head coach of Warriors.
There is no doubt he can coach, but I don’t know if that will fly in Los Angeles, but time will tell.
