You don’t want to make an enemy out of Stephen A. Smith.
He has told you that many times and any time an athlete goes at him rightfully or wrongly he is going to get the last word because he has the backing of ESPN the biggest sports network in the world.
Smith has been calling out Kyrie for months now and Kyrie finally had enough.
Kyrie went on a LONG twitter rant about media manipulation and if you can read between the lines you could clearly see he was talking about Smith.
“When I see my name or my brothers/sisters names getting spun through the media, I refer to all my research about who they are. Their job is to CONTROL PUBLIC PERCEPTION, all while profiting off discussing, discrediting, and disrespecting people’s lives for entertainment,” Irving wrote. “I send shots at the puppet masters, not the puppets. All puppets do is run around society, trying to gain popularity and state opinions. What a life! My name is worth billions to these media corporations. My brothers and sisters who deal with this know exactly what I mean.”
I am not sure about billions but he isn’t wrong.
In today’s sports media the money is made off drama. That is media in general, no one is getting rich off feel good stories, It is the reason political media HATED that Trump lost the election.
The people making the most money in sports media are the ones that are the loudest and wildest takes. Those are the ones that drive the ratings and keep the money flowing.
Kyrie called Stephen A. a puppet and in a way he is. Whatever ESPN is paying him they are making much more money on the back end off his bluster.
That is the way the world works. Pitting black men against each other is a good way to generate profit which is why ESPN always hypes up Stephen A’s video going at black athletes including this one.
