Wild conspiracy on Reddit is calling out NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan over Mike Evans’ suspension, and Side Action got the details;
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to have to live without their star wide receiver Mike Evans for a week. Evans will be a no-go when the Bucs take on the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, and following Evans’ suspension being handed down, some conspiracy theorists believe that there could be more to it than meets the eye. Evans has been suspended one game by the NFL for his role in a fight that broke out this past weekend. The suspension was issued by NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan, who explained the decision in detail in a press release.
Interestingly enough Runyan has a son who plays for the Green Bay Packers. Runyan’s son, Jon Runyan Jr., is a starting offensive lineman for the Packers. There was some wild speculation on Reddit that Runyan Sr. may have suspended Evans so the receiver would not be available for Green Bay’s game against the Bucs.
The suspension for Evans isn’t really all that crazy. He was the only player suspended because this isn’t the first time he’s been suspended for doing something egregious. Evans was also suspended back in 2017 for a cheap shot on Saints cornerback Marcus Lattimore, who is the same player he leveled during Sunday’s melee. Clearly they have some history there.
That is a wild accusation, and to be honest, they should have let someone else make the ruling on Evans’ suspension just so this type of thing wouldn’t have come on.
Evans’ appeal was denied, and he will miss the game against the Packers. Tom Brady has no healthy receivers to throw to, which is an advantage for the Packers.
