Chris Rock is getting the heat from fans over claims that he intentionally chose the hometown of Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett to film his Netflix special which was focused on blasting Will for slapping him at the Oscars to please cheating Jada.
I’ve watched the part where Chris Rock addressed the Oscars slap, and man. He went in hard on the Smiths via the Daily Mail;
Fans have criticised Chris Rock for ‘deliberately’ choosing the city of Baltimore – Jada Pinkett Smith’s hometown – to shoot his new Netflix special.
Taking to the stage at the Baltimore Hippodrome Theatre, Chris offered his long-awaited public response to the famous ‘slapgate’ scandal.
The Netflix show Selective Outrage sees the comedian tear into Will and Jada’s relationship and address the slap he received from Will at the Oscars after Chris poked fun at Jada’s hair loss.
Bringing Jada up in the show, he addressed her affair and his frustration that he was the one who ‘bore the brunt’ of the couple’s marital troubles.
‘Will Smith practices selective outrage,’ Rock said, giving a nod to the special’s title.
‘Everybody that really knows knows I had nothing to do with that. I didn’t have any entanglements…She hurt him way more than he hurt me.’
Now, viewers have now claimed that the location for his new show is ‘no coincidence’, labelling the move as ‘calculated’.
One fan wrote: ‘Chris Rock is doing his live special in Jada’s hometown… he’s going for blood tonight’.
A second said: ‘It’s ironic Chris Rock called Will a coward but he chose Baltimore over Philly for the venue.
‘It felt like Chris Rock did his show in Baltimore just to be able to close on Jada Pinkett Smith in her hometown. And boy did he go hard on Will & Jada at the end. Amazing!’, a third added.
Another fan acknowledged: ‘Chris Rock shot his special in Baltimore because that’s where Jada is from? I see the science’.
This comes after people called out Chris for getting a fact about Will Smith wrong for a joke he made during his Netflix special.
Chris quipped that he felt the slap and brought up some of Will’s movie roles to illustrate that one of them was an action star and the other a funny guy.
He said: ‘I know you can’t tell on camera – Will Smith is significantly bigger than me. We are not the same size, okay? Will Smith does movies with his shirt off. You’ve never seen me do a movie with my shirt off.
‘If I’m in a movie getting open heart surgery, I’ve got on a sweater. Will Smith played Muhammad Ali in a movie.’
The comedian went on to compare their roles in cartoons, saying: ‘even in animated movies, I’m a zebra, he’s a f**king shark’.
