It’s kind of a love/hate relationship between NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and the players and fans.
He has a lot of power but one thing is for sure, he has pushed the NFL to new heights. He’s had his flaws but for the most part, he’s been a pretty good commissioner.
Because of that, he is finalizing his 4th contract extension with the NFL owners.
The NFL’s compensation committee is slated to present the proposed extension to team owners during a special privileged session Tuesday afternoon. Only one member from each team is permitted in that meeting.
Goodell’s extension has been in the works since last season, when the compensation committee was granted permission by the full membership to get an extension done, according to sources. The sides have discussed a three-year extension, according to sources, but no length of time has been agreed to yet.
This really isn’t a surprise considering the billions of dollars he’s helped bring in even during covid and a lot of labor peace between the NFL, owners, and players. The only question is, how long will this extension be.
