An update was just given by TMZ regarding the shooting incident that took place inside the home of one of Ohio’s biggest celebrities–Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon. Two suspects have been identified inside of a vehicle that was seen leaving Mixon’s house, immediately after the shooting had taken place.
The suspects are 34-year-old Lamonte Brewer, and 34-year-old Shalonda Mixon. Shalonda is Joe’s older sister. The vehicle they were seen in was a black Honda Accord, police reports say. We still don’t know yet who exactly was the one shooting at the teens, nor their reasons why or if there are other suspects. Here’s what we do know, so far.
In the reports, it states that several teenagers were involved, playing a game called “dart wars” using “Nerf” toy guns at approximately 8:25 PM. A 16-year-old boy was allegedly told by one of the other participants to run alongside Mixon’s home.
The unknown suspects then fired off 11 shots at the boy from Mixon’s backyard. One of the bullets ended up hitting the teen in the foot as he was trying to flee. The victim was quickly transported to a local medical facility, where doctors found the lodged bullet and removed it.
No arrests or charges have officially been made, but I imagine one of those things will change sooner or later. As will Joe Mixon’s silence on the incident that happened under his own roof. There’s some hope, for now, that Joe himself was mixed in with any of this madness. But the longer this drags out, the more anxious Bengals fans get.
An HCSO spokesperson reportedly issued a statement on the current status of the investigation:
“We understand that there is very specific interest in this story due to the nature of the home being connected to Bengals player Joe Mixon. We cannot confirm additional details outside of what is outlined in the Incident Report. Our investigative team continues to review the evidence and conduct interviews.”
