If I were Lamar Jackson, I would be ready to move on too.
Jackson has made the Ravens perennial winners while surrounded by one of the weakest offensive supporting casts in the league.
The one good receiver he ever had, Hollywood Brown they traded him.
While all the QBs in his draft class were getting extensions, the Ravens decided to wait even though he had won an MVP, and then they floated a lie that he wanted a fully guaranteed contract.
On top of that, they questioned how hurt he was last season and if he should have taken a chance to ruin his career.
So, I am not surprised about this report from PFT.
As one source explained it, the person has said that Jackson does not want a fully-guaranteed contract. Some regard this as a possible exercise in semantics, with Jackson still wanting a very significant amount fully guaranteed — up to $200 million or more — with one more more non-guaranteed years on the back end.
Another source said that the representative is telling other teams that Lamar is ready to move on from the Ravens.
Obviously, the Ravens would have the ability to match any offer sheet signed by Jackson.
Last year, the NFL specifically instructed teams not to negotiate with representatives not certified by the NFLPA, when Saint Omni was allegedly contacting teams on behalf of then-Bears linebacker Roquan Smith.
Ironically Smith was able to get a deal done with the Ravens without an agent. While having an agent would have made life easier for Jackson, it isn’t like deals can’t be done without an agent.
It seems to me that Jackson and the Ravens are headed towards a divorce, and Jackson is going to make them regret their decision not to sign him when they had a chance to early on in the process.
