Draymond Green has put his team in a tough situation.
He has been suspended without pay for Game 3 of their series against the Kings after he stomped on Domantas Sabonis in Game 2. Sabonis initiated the stomp after he grabbed Draymond’s leg but he did take it a little too far with the stomp.
Draymond was given a flagrant 2 and ejected from the game and most thought that that was going to be punishment enough. NBA Executive VP and head of basketball operations, Joe Dumars, said the stomp warranted a suspension due to multiple factors though.
The stomp, how Draymond acted after towards the crowd, and his history.
In an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Dumars says that a player that doesn’t have similar history might not have been suspended for the excessive and over the top actions and the combination of all of it is what led to no Draymond for Game 3.
The Warriors are currently down 0-2 and will be at home where they are much better so this isn’t as bad as it could be but Draymond is one of the main cogs in their offense and defense and it’ll be a little tougher than the Warriors want.
