I get it, you hear the names Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, and you automatically assume NBA Championship.
With that being said, history has shown us many times that while you need a Big 2 or Big 3 or Big 4 to win a championship, you better have some solid role players to go along with it.
The reason the Lakers are playing well now isn’t because LeBron and Anthony Davis are any different than they were at the beginning of the season. It is because they traded for some role players that can play.
Everyone is talking about Steph Curry’s 50-point game, but they don’t win unless Kevin Looney has 20+ rebounds and dominates the offensive glass.
That is the problem that the Suns are having right now against the Nuggets. Jokic can have an off night, and they can win. Murray was god-awful in Game 2, and they were able to grind out another W.
If Devin Booker and Kevin Durant aren’t dropping at least 30 with high efficiency, they will have a hard time beating a team as good as the Nuggets.
What Brandon Marshall sounds like is a casual fan on his own podcast with Ashley Nicole Moss.
When he says DeAndre Ayton and Chris Paul need to give the Suns at least 20. That lets me know he hasn’t watched the Suns play a lot. You aren’t going to get a lot of 20+ games from CP3 and Ayton.
Chris Paul is hurt, so that makes their problems even worse.
The series is not over, and we have seen times when both Devin Booker and Kevin Durant have won games singlehandedly, but even in the Clippers series, you saw cracks in the armor.
Even after Kawhi got hurt, they could never quite blow the Clippers out, even though they had two of the best players in the NBA. Now they are up against one of the best teams in the NBA with a legit MVP and players hungry for a title.
We will see what they got in Game 3.
