There are several reasons why this is a sensible decision. The primary one being that FanDuel is on the verge of losing Pat McAfee to ESPN. However, they have already made significant investments in well-known personalities like Michelle Beadle, Shams, and Kay Adams, which demonstrates their ability to handle new shows and prominent figures.
Sharpe could enjoy more freedom to express himself at FanDuel compared to a major network like ESPN. While FS1 provided some flexibility that was absent during his time at CBS, FanDuel would essentially grant him complete autonomy to run his own show without much oversight.
Front Office Sports has more.
Sports TV free agent Shannon Sharpe is in early talks with FanDuel, sources told Front Office Sports.
The former co-host of FS1’s “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed” has been in negotiations about potentially joining the FanDuel TV platform, said sources.
But the 54-year-old Sharpe has talked to several suitors since ending his seven–year partnership with Skip Bayless on FS1’s morning debate show. He will likely have a several lucrative options before he comes to a decision.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has already invited the Pro Football Hall of Famer to join his rotating team of guest debaters on “First Take.” New ESPN hire Pat McAfee also said he’d love to see Sharpe join the Worldwide Leader.
Sharpe dropped a coy tweet Monday that he will be back on morning TV “soon.”
Sharpe is eager to capitalize on his current success in the media industry, which is known for its cutthroat nature. He aims to make the most of this opportunity before the NFL season commences. To achieve his goals, he may seek advice from individuals experienced in working with FanDuel. Interestingly, these individuals have had no trouble creating viral content on social media, a crucial factor for any successful streaming service.
