When he left NBA in 2017 , the transition for Paul Pierce from court to those warm studio chairs seemed quite natural and smooth. Although he wasn’t as popular as some other analysts , he was able to secure a job as ESPN studio analyst and things seemed to be going quite well. This was all about to change on one fateful night in 2021 when he went on Instagram live. Pierce was seen smoking a blunt and sipping alcohol while surrounded by strippers in now infamous video . Not long after the video surfaced, he was dismissed unceremoniously by ESPN, now a few years later he looks back on the whole incident.
Pierce said on Stars On Mars : “I was at my boy’s birthday party,” “We was playing poker and it was girls just there dancing and alcohol, lot of alcohol. It was a big old controversy, I mean it wasn’t nothing illegal, it was just girls.” When asked in social media about who made the incredibly unwise decision of uploading it in social media he replied “I accidentally did my dumb***,” “… Yeah, I lost my job at ESPN over it. You know, we all make some mistakes. Maybe I wouldn’t be on Mars if that didn’t happen. See? things happen for a reason.”
If given a choice, we bet Pierce would rather stay on ESPN than be on Stars on Mars . Good thing to know is that , he did finally admit to his wrongs which wasn’t the case earlier when he often pointed out that he was let go off ESPN for having a bit of “Fun” back in April.
Paul Pierce nearly did it again
Just when we thought Paul Pierce was well and truly over the Instagram fiasco, he went ahead and nearly landed himself in trouble again. He seemed drunk when he brought along an escort during Kevin Garnett’s KG Certified podcast which was live streamed.
Garnett was visibly upset and uncomfortable as he kept pleading to Paul to stop it but to no avail. In the end Pierce didn’t get fired for this ludicrous appearance and is still employed by showtime . We await nervously what the future holds for Paul Pierce as he clearly seems to have a problem with alcohol as seen in both the incidents.
