Sean Payton Puts Nathaniel Hackett, New York Jets On Blast

It’s no secret that the 2023 NFL season for the Denver Broncos was an absolute train wreck. From the very first week, it was clear and obvious to almost everybody that Nathaniel Hackett was in way over his head. What we as a people didn’t know, was how bad things were behind the scenes. Well, now we have at least a general grasp, thanks to Sean Payton.

The former Saints head coach held nothing back, even if it meant slandering Hackett–who currently serves as offensive coordinator for the New York Jets. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that he threw some shade towards the team itself?

According to Warren Sharp, Payton said quarterback Russell Wilson still has that “it” factor, and verbally destroyed Hackett for what happened during his time in Denver:

“It doesn’t happen often where an NFL team or organization gets embarrassed,” Payton said. “And that happened here. Part of it was their own fault, relative to spending so much (expletive) time trying to win the offseason – the PR, the pomp and circumstance, marching people around and all this stuff.”

Sharp then posted a video on Twitter, showcasing Broncos fans collectively coming together during their home against the Houston Texans to count down the play clock. I don’t recall any fan base having to do that in recent memory. Coach went on to basically call out the Jets for the recent moves they’ve made this offseason:

“We’re not doing any of that. The Jets did that this year. You watch. ‘Hard Knocks,’ all of it. I can see it coming. Remember when (former Washington owner) Dan Snyder put that Dream Team together? I was at the Giants (in 2000). I was a young coach. I thought, ‘How are we going to compete with them? Deion’s (Sanders) there now.’ That team won eight games or whatever. So, listen…just put the work in.”

As a Saints fan, seeing Sean Payton like this, now from an outside perspective, absolutely tickles me. Take it from me and the rest of the Saints fan base, Broncos fans, you’re in for a ride. We’ve dealt with this for 15 years. Now it’s your turn.

That week 5 game between the Broncos and Jets just became even more must-see.
