Anthony Davis is the hope of The Los Angeles Lakers presently with LeBron James injured, so when a video surfaced of him trying his boxing skills with 21-year-old boxer Jalen Walker, fans were worried that Davis would get injured during the casual boxing match and render himself incapacitated for upcoming NBA matches.
30-year-old Anthony was careful not to injure himself. Being a giant and also an athlete, he was able to throw some weak punches, which the boxer barely retaliated against. He won the boxing match, but basically, because Jalen is much smaller in size. However, NBA stars claim that Davis deserves to be resting at home with no extra no major extra activities that could hurt him.
FAW got more;
The Los Angeles Lakers overachieved in the face of adversity last season, with one trade to send Russell Westbrook away for depth, completely reshaping their roster. They made a run to the Western Conference Finals as the seventh seed and are looking strong for next season.
Anthony Davis played a big role in the Lakers’ turnaround, with LeBron James injured for large chunks of that run. He is putting in work this offseason, showing off his boxing skills in a viral video.
Boxing is great for conditioning training and shows that AD is keeping himself active and in shape. Given the foot injuries AD had toward the end of the playoffs, his ability to move as freely in a boxing ring is an encouraging sign of how he’s healing.
Davis averaged 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.0 blocks last season and will be expected to establish himself as the Lakers’ No. 1 option ahead of LeBron in Year 21.
The Lakers will maximize trying to win a title next season, as it may be their final one with both LeBron and AD. Both players have player options on their contracts at the end of the year. LBJ is expected to opt out and see if he can play alongside Bronny, while Davis may want to discuss a long-term extension.
The Lakers’ willingness to give the injury-prone superstar a long-term extension after LeBron leaves has been questioned, but Rob Pelinka seems motivated to keep AD on the squad.
They’ve added Taurean Prince, Gabe Vincent, and Jaxson Hayes to their rotation this summer while retaining Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell. They have depth and plenty of tradeable contracts if a slow start to the season needs an injection of star talent. They’re well-equipped for next season and could challenge the Nuggets, whose roster has taken some blows.
While some NBA stars were terrified watching the video, others want Anthony Davis to pursue boxing after his NBA career, mainly due to his giant stature.
