Draymond Green has no regrets after slapping his former teammate Jordan Poole last year right on the NBA court during a match.
Jordan Poole has been traded from the Golden State Warriors team to The Washington Wizards, and when he was questioned about the infamous incident in an interview last week, he responded with claims that he wants to let go of the Warriors’ problems and focus on his new team. However, Draymond is speaking out about the attack again.
In a recent interview with Patrick Beverley, Draymond claimed that he wouldn’t just hit Poole unprovoked. According to the 33-year-old Warriors player, there has been a prolonged beef between them, and for the infamous attack, Dramond claimed Poole triggered him with a hurtful comment.
According to SI;
Neither Draymond Green or Jordan Poole have gone into much detail about their incident since it occurred last preseason. Green has of course discussed it more than Poole, but it’s mostly been to reflect on his actions, and acknowledge wrongdoing. During a recent podcast clip with Patrick Beverley, Green revealed a previously untold reality about the Poole incident.
“I don’t just hit people,” Green said. “Dialogue of course happens over time, and you usually ain’t just triggered by something that fast, to that degree. This is a team, ain’t nobody on my team triggering me in an instant. We know stuff that you don’t say amongst men. We know things that you have to stand on.”
From Green’s comments, it was clear his issue with Poole had been brewing over time. Green also made it sound as if Poole said something the crossed a line. With comments like “I don’t just hit people” and “We know stuff that you don’t say amongst men,” it’s clear Green is suggesting that there was more to the Poole incident than just a moment of frustration between teammates.
As previously mentioned, most of Green’s prior comments on the incident have been to acknowledge wrongdoing, as well as the impact the punch had on Golden State’s disappointing season. This clip reveals some additional insight into what caused the Warriors leader to react in that way.
Being prudent is an act we all have to somehow instill in ourselves. What stopped Draymond from hurting Poole back with words that he decided to hit a 24-year-old young player just because of a minor misunderstanding and shamelessly wants to defend his violent actions with blame games?
