Anthony Joshua is open to matching himself against Deontay Wilder inside the boxing ring. Following his second consecutive win in a row, ‘AJ’ seemed optimistic about having his hands raised in a potential clash with ‘The Bronze Bomber’.
‘AJ’ knocked out Robert Helenius in round seven and the same task was done by Deontay Wilder in round one when he fought ‘The Nordic Nightmare’. Although Joshua took more time than Wilde to KO Helenius, the Briton still got his job done in style.
Anthony Joshua scored a KO win after more than two years after knocking out Kubrat Pulev in 2020. Now that he can target his next opponent, AJ’ eyes Wilder as an interesting matchup.
In the post-fight presser, AJ said, “Anytime is a good time to fight. It’s only a fight no matter who it is. It could be [Deontay] Wilder eight years ago or Wilder now, doesn’t matter. It is what it is. At the end of the day, it’s only a fight and boxing wins. So, roll on really.”
“I am doing my best to keep heavyweight boxing on the map.”
“I am just focused on smashing his head now.”

Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder held all the heavyweight titles and unbeaten records respectively a few years back. They could have materialized an undisputed title clash a few years back.
However, both men have suffered defeats in recent times and are no longer world champions.
AJ lost his heavyweight crown to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019 which he avenged in a rematch. However, Joshua suffered his second and third career loss against Oleksandr Usyk, losing his championship status again.
Meanwhile, Deontay Wilder has suffered two losses against Tyson Fury. Now, Wilder and ‘AJ’ can settle a fight between each other to determine who deserves to take a step forward toward the title shot. As for now, heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk will defend his title against Daniel Dubois and WBC champion Tyson Fury will face Francis Ngannou next.
