Dustin Poirier suffered a brutal knockout loss against Justin Gaethje at BMF title and has slipped down to the number three position in the current 155 lbs rankings.
In front of a stacked crowd at the Salt Lake City, Poirier ate a clean head kick from ‘’The Highlight’ in round two of their five-round headliner.
‘Diamond’ instantly went to sleep as Justin Gaethje avenged his defeat in 2018. While Gaethje can earn a title shot net against the winner of Makhachev vs Oliveira 2, ‘Diamond; is also looking to find his way back to the cage.
In a recent social media post, Dustin Poirier explained his current mindset.

Dustin Poirier is still one of the most high-profile fighters in the UFC and seems one or two wins far from calling another title shot at the lightweight gold.
34-year-old Poirier has had two unsuccessful attempts at the lightweight gold against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira, respectively. Meanwhile, has held the interim belt once by beating Max Holloway.
The 155 lbs division is stacked and considered the most competitive division in the UFC by several fans. Meanwhile, Poirier has spent several years in that weight category after competing at 145 lbs. He can possibly move up to 170 lbs on his next.
