Max Holloway was looking invincible as the UFC featherweight champion until he fell prey to Alexander Volkanovski’s sheer striking skills across three different fights.
The Hawaiian lost his belt, and it seemed like Volkanovski cracked his number, beating him every time they would lock horns. Nevertheless, Max Holloway is still open to facing ‘The Great’ for a fourth time in the UFC.
Max Holloway is still the number one-raked 145-pounder in the UFC. Upon beating ‘The Korean Zombie’ this weekend in Singapore, he would retain the number one position, validating himself against Alexander Volkanovski again.
When asked whether ‘Blessed’ would entertain the chance, he had a straightforward response.
In his recent interview with Schultz, he said, “100 percent (I want to fight Volkanovski again). It sucks that it keeps happening, but if the roles were reversed, I get it. I just want to fight the best guy in the world.”
“If the UFC don’t want me to fight Volk, stop giving me these contenders. Give me somebody else. Let’s go make fun fights. Let’s make another belt. Most Talkative Motherf—r in the UFC.”
“I’d love to fight (Volk). He’s one of the best guys in the world, and being able to share the Octagon with him again…”
“I would change nothing. I did a great training camp, my mental’s great. He just went out there, he did his thing. I showed up, but he just did better.”
Alexander Volkanovski didn’t let any featherweight fighter take away his belt. On the contrary, he moved up to 155 lbs and challenged Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title.
Despite losing the fight, Volkanovski earned a high appraisal for his dominant performance. Now that he is back to 145 lbs, the winner between Max Holloway and The Korean Zombie is expected to be his next opponent.
