There was little resistance to Ime Udoka becoming the Rockets head coach despite his previous controversy. However, people question why only Udoka was punished for his consensual affair with a Celtics employee while the employee faced no consequences. The affair led to Udoka’s breakup with his longtime fiancée, actress Nia Long, who now wants full custody of their son and claims Udoka has not been present in the boy’s life.
The split between Nia Long and Ime Udoka is getting nastier … the actress is now asking for primary custody of the couple’s child — after she claims the NBA head coach has been failing to support the kid.
Long made the allegation in a court filing in Los Angeles last week … while requesting a judge give her primary legal and physical custody of their 11-year-old son, Kez.
According to the docs, however, she did ask the judge to allow Udoka a reasonable opportunity to visit their kid to the extent “consistent with the child’s best interest.”
A ruling on the petition has not yet been handed down. Udoka has yet to respond.
As we reported, the couple broke up in late 2022 after 13 years together … following allegations that Udoka had an affair with a team staffer while he was the Boston Celtics’ coach.
According to The Blast it has been tough for Nia this last year.
Nia Long recently opened up about how Udoka’s affair was “devastating” for their son. “He still has moments where it’s not easy for him,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, she was forced to pull him out of school the day the story broke online. “I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public,” she added.
She continued, “No one from the Celtics organization has even called to see if I’m OK, to see if my children are OK, It’s very disappointing.”
Udoka has not responded to the filing.
