Shaquille O’Neal Discusses How He Prevents Entering Dark Phases Of Life After Facing Unsettling Health Hazard After Tragic Event

Shaq

In the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal is regarded as one of the most dominant players ever. Shaq dominated the NBA for the duration of his career thanks to a strong attitude and playing style. Off the court, Shaq has also been a confident individual.

Shaq recently discussed how he prevents the bad times in his life from controlling him and how he fights back in an interview. Speaking from personal experience, the 7-foot-1 behemoth had one of the worst years of his life in 2019, which caused him to experience a serious health problem.

DJ Diesel is currently leading a healthy lifestyle and continues to advocate for having a strong mind and body.

The strategy Shaquille O’Neal uses to overcome obstacles

Shaquille O’Neal is frank about how he has been able to stay out of his lowest depths. He emphasizes viewing the wider picture of suffering and moving past one’s own troubles. He channels his father’s drill sergeant upbringing to remind himself to toughen up and not become self-absorbed.

“Yeah, so you know, it’s people that don’t have as much as we have, and they’re really, really suffering, and I look at myself, and I say, Am I really suffering, or are you being a brat? So stop being a brat and just mess it up. That’s just the military drill sergeant upbringing in me,”

After reflecting on his fortunate upbringing and his parents’ company, Shaq realizes that his problems pale in contrast to those of others. He is able to avoid being unduly pessimistic thanks to this realization.

“ I can look in the mirror and say, Shut the hell up, figure it out like like I don’t, I don’t, I don’t go below bottom because I can because I know somebody right now; listen to this that doesn’t have as much as we have,”

He experiences low points, but he maintains a military mindset to prevent a downward spiral. “It could be worse,” Shaq’s catchphrase, serves as a call to action to avoid wallowing in self-pity and instead take constructive effort to better one’s position. He keeps going since he is aware that others have it far worse.

Shaq’s struggle with insomnia

2019 was Shaquille O’Neal’s worst year ever. In a matter of weeks, the legend of the 7’1 Los Angeles Lakers lost two of his dearest and closest friends. Ayesha Harrison-Jex, Shaq’s sister, passed away after a protracted battle with breast cancer. At the age of 40, Ayesha, who had already beaten cancer several times, passed away.

And a few short weeks later, Kobe Bryant‘s story made headlines.
Shaq felt excruciating anguish at losing two of his closest friends so quickly. Shaq was unable to get any sleep at night due to regret over losing contact with the Mamba and Ayesha.

In a documentary, the Basketball Hall of Famer discussed the horrific incident and revealed, “I don’t go to bed until 5 AM… I’ve been unable to sleep since the deaths of my sister and Kobe [Bryant].

Shaq overcame insomnia, though, and is now living a healthy life.
