It has been a running joke (for most people) for a while now that the NFL has a script every season and everyone from the players to coaches to refs to GMs all have to stick to the script.
There have even been players that have talked about the NFL having a script and talked about how they have to sign a contract to not talk about it while playing. That has a good portion of people believing the story.
It may or may not be true but whether it is or not, the NFL is leaning into the claims 100%.
Earlier on Thursday, to go along with the “joke,” the NFL released the script for the season and it is brilliant.

They released a video of a table reading of the script for the season staring Keegan Michael Key and NFL players Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Ramsey, Ja’Marr Chase, DK Metcalf, Kirk Cousins, and Justin Fields. Key is the director and each player talked about adding something wild to the script with someone asking if they can just remove Patrick Mahomes all together and saying there will be a week 1 no hands catch from Ja’Marr Chase.
The NFL may or may not really have a script but it is genius for them to lean all the way into the claims.
