The Memphis Grizzlies quickly moved from being a fun, up-and-coming club that was simple to support to one of the most despised. Many others were offended by their haughtiness and trash-talking, including Austin Reaves. Reaves chose the whole Grizzlies squad when asked who in the league talks the most smack during an appearance on the Full Send podcast. The 25-year-old later acknowledged that it was satisfying to eliminate them from the playoffs.
“All of Memphis, honestly. Their whole team talked s**t. It felt good beating them in the playoffs.”
Interesting enough, Stephen Curry also enjoyed this post. It is reasonable to assume that many NBA players are dissatisfied with the way the Grizzlies have been conducting themselves lately. All that trash-talking against the Los Angeles Lakers backfired horribly on the Grizzlies, and specifically on Dillion Brooks.
After their altercation in Game 2’s middle of the game, Brooks had criticized LeBron James. The former Grizzlies forward referred to James as ancient and said that until someone scores 40 points against him, they don’t respect them. LeBron didn’t reach 40, but the Lakers would go on to win the series in six games with relative ease. \
The Lakers romped to a 125-85 victory (40 points) in Game 6, putting on a beating for the ages. Reaves performed reasonably well in the series, despite the fact that all the trash talking ended up being the main talking point. Over the course of the season, he averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.
The Grizzlies Will Talk Less Trash After That Series, according to Ja Morant
The response might change if Reaves is questioned about this after the upcoming season. Ja Morant thought it was time for a change in Memphis following this embarrassing postseason exit. In the future, Morant and the Grizzlies will refrain from using derogatory language, and he added that this will be beneficial for them. Will that occur? Well, time will only tell.
However, Brooks was the team’s loudest trash-talker, so the 27-year-old’s move to the Houston Rockets might really be beneficial. Despite the Grizzlies’ mixed feelings about it, Brooks insisted he is not sorry for his inflammatory remarks regarding LeBron.
