In a widely circulated video taken on Saturday night during the Crimson Tide’s 34-24 loss to the Longhorns, Alabama fans can be heard yelling homophobic and racial epithets at three Texas players.
Fans hurled homophobic and racial epithets towards Texas defensive backs Jelani McDonald and X’Avion Brice, as well as running back Quintrevion Wisner, from behind the Texas sideline at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Alabama’s official statement
Following the viral nature of the video, Alabama issued a statement to The Austin American-Statesman stating that the university does not support the behavior and that it “will not be tolerated” in its facilities. As per the statement given to Danny Davis of The American Statesman
“It’s not representative of UA and our values. We expect all attendees to act with class and respect towards others. Fans are strongly encouraged to report issues to our security resources on-site. Gameday and delayed reports are appropriately addressed and anyone found to be in violation of our rules and expectations will be promptly removed and may be banned from future events.”
