Nate Herbig will make his NFL debut for the Pittsburgh Steelers at right guard, taking James Daniels’ position.
Daniels’ groin injury against the Las Vegas Raiders will prevent him from playing in his first game for the Steelers. Herbig will now start with right tackle Chuks Okorafor and center Mason Cole in the lineup.
Herbig joined the Steelers throughout the offseason without knowing what his position would be. He spent the entire summer as a middle rotational piece, getting ready for the chance that would come along.

Herbig said
“Just approaching every week like I’m gonna play,” “Just always having that mentality, being ready when my number’s called. That’s just how I’ve been approaching it since I’ve gone to the league and I’m gonna keep approaching it like that.”
This will end the Steelers’ streak of 20 games in a row starting the same five offensive lineman.
Herbig was acquired by Pittsburgh in the off-season to provide depth at the three interior offensive line positions. In order to improve the interior, Pittsburgh waived Kevin Dotson and Kendrick Green and signed Herbig and rookie Spencer Anderson.
The first of two Herbigs who were added to the roster was Herbig. In the 2023 NFL Draft, Pittsburgh also selected his brother Nick, an edge rusher who is currently a backup.
