Chris Jones, a defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, will enter the 2023 season on the final year of a four-year, $80 million contract, although it appears like he will miss a significant number of games while he hunts for a new deal.
Since Jones talked to the media at a McDonald’s event in Kansas City and ended his holdout, cryptic tweets are a thing of the past. He was greeted by reporters who wanted to interview him about why he was holding off.
“I can’t really talk about it,” Jones said. “Hopefully, it gets worked out. It has always been my goal to be a Kansas City Chief for life. I’ve said that multiple times on social media platforms and in interviews. They know where my position is at and hopefully something can get worked out.”

“Opinions are like buttholes. Everyone’s got one and they all stink, you can’t make everyone happy. I’m just asking for a raise.” 😳

Jones believes he might still suit up for Thursday’s NFL season opener against the Detroit Lions despite not taking part in Kansas City’s offseason workouts, including training camp and the preseason.
Jones declared, “I can play right now.” “I’m on the pitch tomorrow if a deal gets done today.”
According to prior reports from The Athletic, Jones is aiming for a deal worth $30 million per year. Jones received a three-year, $74 million contract offer from Kansas City, according to this week’s report by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. According to him, “$70 million would be guaranteed for injury, with a lower amount fully guaranteed.”
After the team formally placed him on the Reserve/Did Not Report list last week during final roster cuts, his holdout is still ongoing. You won’t see Jones on the pitch when the Kansas City Chiefs play the Detroit Lions on Thursday at Arrowhead unless things move quickly.
