It appears married life wasn’t for rapper Jeezy as he filed for divorce from TV host Jeannie Mae.
Jeezy, the Grammy-nominated rapper, has filed for joint legal custody of his daughter from his marriage to Mai, a former host of the syndicated talk show “The Real”. The couple, who got married in March 2021 in Atlanta during the pandemic, have already signed a prenuptial agreement and are separated, as per the filing in Fulton County Superior Court.
Jeezy’s music career has been a success with nine top 10 records on the Billboard album chart and several top 10 rap hits, including “Put On” and “Soul Survivor”. Mai, on the other hand, hosted “The Real” for eight seasons before it was canceled last year.
The couple met when Jeezy was a guest on Mai’s show, and they started dating years later after he asked her out to a romantic sushi dinner in Los Angeles. During the night, they salsa danced and Jeezy asked Mai if she could picture spending the rest of her life with him. She said she could, and they fell in love.
Jeezy’s filing for joint legal custody of their daughter shows his commitment to being a responsible and involved father. Mai, who has been open about her desire to start a family, has not yet commented on the filing.
