Jamal Adams, a Seahawks Safety, Apologizes to the Concussion Doctor for Their Sideline Conversation as the NFL Considers Fining Him

Jamal Adams returned to the field for the first time in 385 days on Monday. The Seattle Seahawks safety played for nine total plays before getting hit in the head with a knee and leaving the field for the blue tent.

The NFL’s independent concussion doctor then informed Adams that he couldn’t play again. Adams was then seen getting angry and screaming at the doctor while being restrained by Seahawks employees on the sidelines.

According to Adam Schefter, the NFL is thinking to fining Adams, an ESPN insider said on Wednesday.  The seventh bullet item for observable indicators in section C of the 2022 PDF is behavior alteration.

Jamal Adams apologizes for his behavior

On social media, many individuals drew attention to the precedent that the NFL would create by disciplining a concussed player for displaying concussion symptoms.

Adams apologized to the consultant and thanked him for his patience while Adams “wasn’t [himself]” in a statement that was released two hours later. Adams said on X,

“First and foremost, I want to apologize to the OG. You did everything right when you realized I was concussed, I apologize for any negative energy I brought your way,”

“Watching the replay, I am thankful for your patience knowing I wasn’t myself in that moment. You’re a real one and you serve a great purpose that benefits the NFL and so many players. Prioritizing player’s health is essential. Much respect to you!”

Daniel Jones was being pursued by Adams, who rushed at Jones’ legs to bring him to the ground. The quarterback of the New York Giants kneed Adams directly in the head, yet the 27-year-old man didn’t move off the ground. Adams attempted to stand up but immediately displayed signs of confusion. Adams is eligible to play against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6 of the team’s schedule.
