If the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive doesn’t start to improve, the team may start the process of changing. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the competition for the offensive coordinator’s job may heat up heading into the bye week if Matt Canada’s team continues to underperform.
Although the Steelers publicly expressed their support for Canada, Rapoport claims that the atmosphere within the team is different. According to Rapoport ,
“Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada and Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael have received the support of their head coaches publicly. But if production doesn’t ramp up, their respective seats will be hot, based on conversations with sources close to the situation,”
Numerous players and head coach Mike Tomlin have refused to back down in favor of Canada. Running back Najee Harris even went so far as to claim that the players are to blame for the team’s difficulties.
Earlier there were reports that Matt Canada had been using a troll account.
This week, the squad got together to refocus and try to rediscover a spark as they get closer to the bye week. However, if it doesn’t have the same impact as their match from the previous season, which changed a 2-6 start into a 7-2 run, Canada might be out the door.
