This week, the Houston Texans‘ roster is devoid of a rookie.
Due to a personal health issue, Texans rookie defensive end Dylan Horton will be out of the lineup for an indeterminate amount of time, the organization stated in a statement.
Horton left the team, but the exact reason for his departure was not made public.
“I’m currently dealing with a personal health matter that will keep me away from the team for an indefinite period of time,” Horton said in a statement. “I want to thank my family, my teammates, and the entire Houston Texans organization for the support and care they have already provided me. I will provide updates from time to time, but my main focus right now is on my health and recovery. Thank you and God bless.”

In the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Texans selected the 23-year-old out of TCU with the 109th overall choice. The Texans will have to rely more on the depth of their defensive line as Horton concentrates on his recuperation.
This season, Horton has made appearances in all ten of the Texans’ games. In addition to 13 tackles, he had two quarterback hits, a fumble recovery, and a tackle for loss. After quarterback C.J. Stroud had one of his few rookie performances this past week in the Houston Texans’ 21-16 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, the team should feel quite fortunate.
Before Week 11, Stroud had thrown just two interceptions against the Texans quarterback for the whole season. This time, he tossed three. The NFL’s front-runner for Offensive Rookie of the Year experienced a rare low point during this season, but the club persisted and now has a 6-4 record.
