The in-season tournament has tempers flaring.
During the Timberwolves vs. Warriors game it started early with Klay Thompson but it ended with Draymond Green choking out Rudy Gobert.
Less than two minutes into the game, McDaniels and Thompson got tangled up in a transition play. Thompson grabbed McDaniels’ jersey while waiting for a rebound, and McDaniels responded by grabbing Thompson back. Both players refused to let go, resulting in a physical altercation as they swung each other around and pushed. During the scuffle, Thompson’s jersey was ripped and he swung his arm at McDaniels.
Meanwhile, Green put Minnesota center Rudy Gobert in a headlock, which caused coaches to intervene and separate the players. After a review, McDaniels and Thompson were given two technical fouls each, and Green was assessed a flagrant foul 2. This incident is the first in the past 25 seasons where multiple players were ejected before either team scored, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
