In light of Mac Jones‘ difficulties with the New England Patriots this season, some new worries have surfaced. With the Pats currently 2-8 and head coach Bill Belichick reportedly on the hot seat, Jones’ play has deteriorated to even worse levels in 2023.
Because of the insane offensive setup of the squad last season, the quarterback was given a pass. He has, however, managed to regress this season, and the Patriots now suspect that he may be suffering from the yips, per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

“They were sold a smart, efficient game managing quarterback and they’re getting a guy that makes a lot mistakes out there that doesn’t do the smart thing that often,” Breer said on FS1’s The Herd. “There’s not a lot of confidence in Mac Jones right now inside that building.”
Luckily, Jones and the Patriots have a bye this weekend, so they won’t be playing. Perhaps the quarterback will get himself in order with a longer hiatus.
