Conor McGregor and Petr Yan unexpectedly gave us an interesting face-off, that too outside the UFC, and has sent several MMA fans into a frenzy. A former bantamweight champion, Yan, is nowhere near McGregor’s weight class at the moment.
That said, two-weight UFC champion McGregor is possibly aiming his return to 155 lbs or 170 lbs. Nevertheless, the massive weight differences didn’t stop them from getting into a friendly face-off.
Both Conor McGregor and Petr Yan were attending the IBA Boxing event in Abu Dhabi as guests. Interestingly current UFC Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev was also present in the arena. However, McGregor and Yan stole the entire spotlight with their action.
With the IBA President standing in between them, Conor McGregor and Petr Yan looked straight into each other’s eyes. Conor McGregor seemed locked in his character and delivered an intense glance. On the contrary, Yan seemed to break character as he smirked a bit.
Following the face-off, both men hugged each other and were spotted in friendly exchanges on several occasions. Hence, there’s no rivalry between ‘Notorious’ and Petr Yan. They have their seperate plans on board and are looking to make their way back to the UFC respectively. As for Conor McGregor, looks likely to compete in 2024.
When Can Conor McGregor Return To Fighting?
Dana White has announced the headliners up until UFC 299, in March. So, McGregor can only return after that. UFC 300 in April is expected to be a massive event . Now, ‘Notorious’ has cited his intentions of making a comeback at UFC 300.
Dana White, however, hasn’t reflected similar emotions. Meanwhile, McGregor’s coach John Kavanaugh has claimed that they are looking at July to set the suitable return. So, it’s s till too early to predict when Conor McGregor would enter the UFC octagon again. But it is extremely likely that we see him fight in 2024. Meanwhile, McGregor has also been optimistic about another attempt in a pro-boxing match on numerous occasions.
