Dak Prescott responded to his critics with some scathing remarks after his performance on Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks.
Since the quarterback joined the Dallas Cowboys as a starter, he has faced a great deal of criticism. This season has been the same, but he’s been playing at a very high level for the previous seven weeks, so there’s not much to say about him.
As his team defeated the Seahawks 41-35, Prescott found himself in the MVP conversation. In addition to throwing for 3 touchdowns and 299 yards on 29 of his 41 passing attempts, the former Mississippi State standout did not throw any interceptions.
He excelled in the fourth quarter, leading three drives that resulted in scores, and he did so particularly late in the game.
After the victory, Dak sent reporters a message for his critics. “Thank you for them,” he murmured. The quarterback added that he is in charge of the story that is told about his career. He went on, “People can say whatever they want, but I’m the one writing because I have the pen and the paper”
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said he is putting no stock in praise coming from the same people who criticized him. “I understand nobody’s opinion defines me. …I don’t care about their opinions now any more than I did when they were calling for my spot.” Video via @dallascowboys. pic.twitter.com/fEH65qlXYv

This season, Dak has been playing some of the finest football of his life. In his last seven games, he has thrown 21 touchdown passes with just two interceptions, helping the Cowboys to a 6-1 record over that time. Even in their lone defeat, which came against the Philadelphia Eagles, the top team in the league, he received high marks for his play.
In less than a week, Dallas, now 9-3, will face the Eagles again.
