In an Unbelievable Rant, Cam Newton Takes a Big Jab at a Number of the NFL’s Best Quarterbacks by Referring to Them as “Game Managers”

Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, and Tua Tagovailoa are all under contention for the 2023 MVP award, which Cam Newton has previously won.

This week, the icon of the Carolina Panthers has gone viral for his remarks about elite quarterbacks in the NFL who are being discussed as potential MVP candidates.

During an episode of “4th and 1 with Cam Newton,” the former NFL player stated that while he thinks quarterbacks Lamar Jackson of the Ravens and Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs are elite, some others aren’t.

“But Brock, they’re not winning because of him,” said Newton. “He’s not turning the ball over. He’s managing the game. And if we were to put that in its own right, as game managers, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jared Goff, and really, Dak Prescott…these are game managers. They’re not difference makers.”

Newton continued by saying that the quarterbacks’ main duties are to manage the team to avoid defeat and to ensure that they do not commit many errors, not to win.

The Dallas Cowboys won their fifth straight game this past Sunday thanks to Dak Prescott’s outstanding play, which also gave them first place in the NFC East. Prescott’s performance in the first 13 games has been ridiculous. Currently leading the NFL in passing touchdowns, Prescott has 3,505 yards and 28 touchdowns against just 6 interceptions.

Purdy has threw for 3,553 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions on 70% of his passes. With 3,697 yards and 24 touchdowns, Tua’s passer rating is 104.8.
