Ahead of their Week 14 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks have yet another extensive injury report. Starting quarterback Geno Smith was present for practice on Thursday.
Geno’s groin injury prevented him from participating fully. This groin issue exacerbates the situation, given that the 33-year-old informed reporters on Thursday that his arm “was still not 100%” and “not close to it.”
Sean Mannion, a quarterback, was added to the practice squad by the team as a countermeasure to his injury. Since 2015, the former third-round selection has been involved with the NFL.

Sean Mannion’s stint with the Vikings
Mannion was just cut off the practice squad of the Vikings. The Seahawks’ quarterback room will have more depth with the addition of the 31-year-old veteran.
Mannion made 22 of 36 pass attempts for 189 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions in his one and only start with the Vikings in 2021. He has 573 passing yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in 14 career games.
He worked with current offensive coordinator Shane Waldron of the Seahawks for two seasons during his time with the Rams.
Following the Jets’ signing of Brett Rypien off of Seattle’s practice squad earlier this week, Mannion’s acquisition provides the Seahawks with a third quarterback.
