Stephen Curry’s 3-Pointer Streak Ends, Warriors Win

Stephen Curry’s remarkable 3-pointer streak finally came to an end at 268 games in the Golden State Warriors’ hard-fought victory against the Portland Trail Blazers, with a final score of 118-114. The star player, known for his long-range shooting prowess, had a rare off night, going 0-for-8 from beyond the arc and only managing to score seven points overall on a 2-for-12 shooting performance.

Warriors Triumph Despite Stephen Curry’s 3-Pointer Streak Coming to an End After 268 Games

Curry began his historic streak on December 1, 2018, when the Warriors faced off against the Detroit Pistons. Since then, he had consistently displayed his incredible shooting skills, setting the NBA record for the most consecutive games with at least one successful 3-pointer. In the process, Curry also achieved the milestone of making his 3,500th career 3-pointer, solidifying his position as the all-time leader in this category.

The last time Curry failed to make a 3-pointer in a regular-season game was on November 8, 2018, when he went 0-for-4 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Interestingly, he also holds the second-longest streak in NBA history, with 157 games.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr acknowledged Curry’s tough night but emphasized the importance of team support, stating, “We can’t rely on Steph to bail us out on every single night. It was a tough night for him. But that’s what a team is supposed to be about — everybody filling in for each other, different guys stepping up each night. That’s a great sign because he’s carried us for long enough this year. We need to give him more help.”

Kerr’s words reflect the understanding that no player can carry the team alone, and it was a testament to the Warriors’ collective effort that they were able to secure the win despite Curry’s struggles.

In the same game, Klay Thompson delivered an outstanding performance, contributing 28 points to the Warriors’ victory. Andrew Wiggins, who had recently been removed from the starting lineup, showcased his skills with 25 points and seven rebounds. Additionally, rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis made his presence felt with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Although Curry’s 3-pointer streak may have come to an end, his impact on the game and the league as a whole cannot be understated. His ability to stretch defenses and create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates has revolutionized the modern game of basketball. While the streak may be over, there is no doubt that Curry will continue to be a force to be reckoned with, inspiring future generations of players to push the boundaries of what is possible on the court.

In Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, he missed all nine of his 3-point attempts. However, the Warriors managed to win the championship regardless, highlighting the team’s resilience and ability to adapt to different circumstances.
