This week, the Pittsburgh Steelers took a step by cutting a quarterback from the roster. Today, the Steelers announced the discharge of quarterback Trace McSorley, marking another change to the practice squad.
He was signed by Pittsburgh on December 4. The tweet read,
“We have released QB Trace McSorley from the practice squad,”

Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph, and Kenny Pickett led the club going into the season, but Pickett’s injury at the start of December made further depth at the position temporarily necessary.
As a result, Trace McSorley was added by the Steelers. Regretfully, he will no longer be playing for the Steelers.
For the first four seasons of his career, McSorley was able to maintain a constant spot on NFL rosters despite not being selected until the sixth round of the 2019 draft. McSorley has completed 52% of his throws for 502 yards, one touchdown, and five interceptions in the NFL.
The squad is dealing with other problems as well. T.J. Watt, an All-Pro linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will miss Sunday’s wild-card playoff game against the Buffalo Bills because of a knee injury.
To win on the road, they’ll need to give it their all.
