Running Back Clyde Edwards-Helaire of the Kansas City Chiefs Has Already Planned an Unexpected Second Career

Even though Clyde Edwards-Helaire is only 24 years old, he is already getting ready for the day when his NFL career ends.

Edwards-Helaire, the running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, is studying how to be a nurse and take care of people when he isn’t practicing rushing through or away from defenders. Edwards-Helaire recently revealed that he is presently enrolled in nursing school in a subtle TikTok post. Fans became interested in that right away.

Edwards-Helaire would tell reporters that his mother is a nurse, which pushed him to pursue a career in nursing.

Chiefs player Clyde Edwards-Helaire has already planned an unexpected second career.

“I know, for my profession, what I want to do for the rest of my life,” Edwards-Helaire said, via KSHB41. “If y’all need some shots or an IV, holler at ya boy.”

“I wasn’t able to do the nursing things because, being at LSU, the nursing school and playing football, I would have to do LSU in New Orleans and some other stuff, and I was not necessarily planning on leaving early but had the opportunity to,” Edwards-Helaire said.

“So now I’m back at school, rolling.”

Though he was thinking about majoring in kinesiology or going into physical therapy, Edwards-Helaire started college with a focus on sports science. His major was sports administration, according to his former LSU roster page.

The Chiefs are getting ready to play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs, so Edwards-Helaire has a big game this week. Patrick Mahomes will be playing in his first postseason game away from home. Despite only gaining 223 yards (14.9 per game) on 70 carries and one touchdown this season, Edwards-Helaire has done a good job in his role.
