In the final week and a half before the NBA trade deadline, the Charlotte Hornets‘ roster will continue to change.
In trade talks, veterans like Miles Bridges, P.J. Washington, Gordon Hayward, and Nick Richards will be brought up. GM Mitch Kupchak will have to determine how much he wants to blow this thing apart.
As to Jake Fischer’s report on Yahoo! Sports, several teams have indicated their want to trade for Bridges. He wrote,
“The Jazz are also one of several teams who’ve called on Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges, league sources told Yahoo Sports, along with Detroit and Phoenix. Bridges would have to be consulted prior to any deal, as he received trade veto rights when he signed a qualifying offer from Charlotte. While there was originally league-wide skepticism that the Hornets would be able to retain Bridges this summer, Charlotte’s newfound flexibility, creating as much as $45 million in upcoming cap space by dealing Rozier, could push an interested team in trading for him now, as opposed to leaving Bridges available to re-sign with the only NBA club he’s known.”
Bridges is producing at the same rate as he did two years ago, during his finest season to date, despite missing an entire year of action. Bridges has averaged 20.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and three assists per game through 33 games.
With Bridges’ approval, it makes perfect sense for the Hornets to try to sell him if they believe that a re-signing of him is doubtful.
