Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy Jesse Hernandez is being roasted on the internet after a video went viral of him firing shots at his patrol vehicle after mistaking the sound of a falling acorn for gunfire.
Could it be that the officer was in fear and couldn’t differentiate between the sound of gunfire and that of a falling acorn?

Marquis Jackson, who was in the backseat, was unlawfully handcuffed during the incident. Jackson was later not charged with anything, and the deputy’s actions were deemed “not objectively reasonable” in an investigation. Jackson expressed mental distress from the incident, accusing law enforcement of attempting to cover it up.
The incident occurred after a woman reported allegations against Jackson, including taking a car and sending threats. The deputy reportedly resigned in December following the incident but it has since become a source of ridicule for the deputy’s perceived incompetence.
