Six Super Bowl victories throughout their incredibly productive working partnership in New England over the course of over 25 years were the high point of Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft‘s partnership.
However, it’s possible that the two NFL greats grew accustomed to one another as they worked through the remaining terms of their agreement.
In the latter years of Belichick’s contract with the Patriots, a number of publications and other media, such as the documentary series “The Dynasty,” suggest that the team’s ownership wasn’t entirely happy with him.
Peter King explains Bill Belichick’s strained relationship with Kraft Family
Even while the majority of this seeming annoyance was probably caused by outcomes on the field, it might not have been exclusive to football-related events. In a column for NBC Sports, Peter wrote ,
“I think the new Patriots’ doc on Apple TV+, ‘The Dynasty,’ reveals a lot about the frayed feelings between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, but — and I have not seen it — apparently a lot about some of the hard feelings Robert and Jonathan Kraft had for Belichick, as well,” “Good example: Robert Kraft launched a $25 million fund to combat antisemitism in 2023. Belichick appeared at the league meetings with a blue-square pin denoting the Kraft cause — but instead of wearing the pin high on his shirt as most people would, he wore it down around his stomach. Maybe it was unintentional, but I doubt it. That’s the kind of thing that I’m sure ticked off the Krafts.”
Following Belichick’s resignation from the Patriots, some stories suggested that, in the appropriate situation, Robert Kraft would have been persuaded to keep the longstanding coach on board. However, it appears from accounts such as King’s that the owner of New England was predisposed to the choice even before it was made official.
