LeBron James might join the San Antonio Spurs this summer, forming a partnership with Victor Wembanyama. In free agency this summer, the San Antonio Spurs have the opportunity to combine the best of both worlds.
The choice made by LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers will be the main attraction of this year’s free agency. Will he decline his player option to continue with the Lakers or take his talents elsewhere?
In the event that LeBron decides to leave the Lakers, Bleacher Report lists the Spurs as a possible destination. They wrote ;
“The San Antonio Spurs can get to over $30 million in cap space. With a little creativity or a sign-and-trade involving Keldon Johnson, they might be able to bring in a max-level player,” “And just imagine for a moment the possibility of Victor Wembanyama’s development being accelerated by the presence of LeBron on the roster. He’d instantly solve the (often self-imposed) point guard crisis in San Antonio, while showing Wemby the blueprint for navigating over-the-top hype up close.”
Impact In NBA if LeBron and Wemby pair up at Spurs
The Spurs become an immediate contender in the Western Conference if they get LeBron and match him with Wembanyama.
Even though they aren’t nearly a contender, they aren’t a squad that is predicted to finish last for the third straight season. LeBron would help Wemby prepare to take over from “The King” when he leaves the NBA in the next years.
The worst that can happen—though it’s unlikely—is that LeBron says, “No thank you.”
