Tyrese Maxey appears to be on the verge of rejoining the Philadelphia 76ers. The seasoned guard was diagnosed with a concussion earlier this week. Days after the team’s Sunday game against the Dallas Mavericks, Maxey slipped and crashed into a defender, suffering delayed concussion symptoms.
Initially, Maxey was anticipated to play when the Sixers took on the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. Rather, he was returned to Philadelphia after being demoted to out.
The Sixers hosted the Memphis Grizzlies the next evening.
Prior to the match, Maxey’s comeback from injury required him to clear the NBA’s concussion protocol, according to Sixers head coach Nick Nurse. Maxey was still unready on Friday.
Maxey was out for the third straight game, this time against the New Orleans Pelicans. Thankfully, Maxey’s recuperation was making headway as he was spotted getting up shots on Friday during the 76ers’ morning shootaround.
Maxey wasn’t the only one working during the post-shoot-around session. Maxey, who was expected to miss the game against the Pelicans on Friday, took part in a pregame exercise.

Sixers head coach Nick Nurse stated before the game that Maxey was still going through the concussion protocol.
The squad does not yet have a comeback date for the All-Star. Maxey’s earliest possible start date is Sunday, when the Sixers host the New York Knicks. Maxey will look ahead to next Tuesday night, when the Sixers play the Knicks for the second straight game, if he is still not cleared to play.
