Bolts’ Potential 5th Overall Pick Is Revealed by New Odds

All indications are that the Bolts will select a pass catcher in the draft held next month. Just like that, the Los Angeles Chargers’ 2024 NFL draft selection process became much more straightforward.

The league’s top two wide receivers, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, are no longer with the Bolts. The organization traded Allen to the Chicago Bears on Thursday after deciding to sever connections with Willaims before to the start of the new league season on Wednesday.

Although there’s a huge need at wide receiver, oddsmakers and all indications suggest the Bolts will select their next great wide out with the fifth overall choice.

DraftKings Sportsbook specifically thinks it will be Malik Nabers, a wide receiver for LSU.

At number five overall, Nabers has the best chance of getting selected by the Bolts in the draft.

Who better than the 20-year-old to fill the void left by Justin Herbert as the Chargers’ pass catcher? The Bolts were able to utilize all those skill sets now that Williams and Allen were gone.

The player with the second-best odds in this situation, Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy (+425), is the true surprise. With all the changes the Bolts seem to be making, McCarthy’s surge on the draft boards may provide us a hint as to what insiders and oddsmakers think the Chargers are capable of. Joe Alt, an offensive tackle for Notre Dame (+500), Rome Odunze, a wide receiver for Washington (+600), and Marvin Harrison Jr., a wide receiver for Ohio State (+750), complete the top five.
