The Super Bowl is the most watched US sporting event with over 112 million tuning in across America and almost another 100 million worldwide last year. This year’s Super Bowl is being contested by the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers and could see last year’s viewing figures surpassed with a media frenzy surrounding the relationship between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop sensation Taylor Swift.
This is likely to see a new fanbase tuning into the event, but seasoned sports fans will still have the same blockbuster event as usual. Fans will be able to bet on a variety of regular betting markets including money lines, point spreads, over and under markets, and player props. Some betting companies are also set to take advantage of the Kelce/Swift furor with specially designed markets based on how many times Taylor Swift is shown on TV or if she appears during the national anthem.
Exploring licensed betting operators and offshore betting sites will help US bettors find the best prices for the bets they plan to place, but which team is the favorite according to these sites?Â
Where and When
Super Bowl LVIII will take place at the 65,000-capacity Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, February 11th. U.S. viewers can enjoy coverage from 6:30 ET (3:30 PT) on CBS and Paramount+, younger viewers will be able to watch a tailored experience on Nickelodeon.
The event will draw millions in sponsorship deals as brands pull out all the stops to create eye-catching and memorable advertising campaigns for the event.Â
The national anthem for Super Bowl 58 will be performed by Reba McEntire. She will be joined in the pre-game show by Post Malone and Andra Day. The halftime show is another famous feature of this event and 8-time Grammy winner Usher will be the main event.
Kansas City Chiefs
While there will always be a fuss made about the entertainment side of things and celebrity spotting, what it all boils down to is the game and the Kansas City Chiefs have been a regular fixture in the Super Bowl final in recent years. The Chiefs beat the 49ers at Super Bowl LIV before being defeated the following year by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They returned to winning ways last year, beating the Philadelphia Eagles by 38 to 35.
All eyes will be on Kelce for reasons already mentioned, as well as his ability on the field. However, it is Patrick Mahomes who scooped the MVP awards in the last two Chiefs Super Bowl victories. He enjoyed 2 touchdowns and 286 yards the last time they met the 49ers in the final, and will be hoping for a repeat this year.
San Francisco 49ers
Despite the Chiefs’ recent dominance in the Super Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers are the odds-on favorites to win, priced at around 5/6. There isn’t much between the teams with the Chiefs just on the other side of even money at 6/5.
If the 49ers are successful this year, they will join the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers on 6 Super Bowl victories.
The last 49ers Super Bowl victory came in 1994, and under the leadership of head coach Kyle Shanahan, they have a great chance this year. QB Brock Purdy’s form will have a big say on the final result with players like Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey also seen as potential game-winners.Â
The San Francisco 49ers have also had a solid defense all season and this could give them the edge over the Chiefs this February 11th.
