After hurting an SEC employee, a fan at Sunday’s SEC Women’s Basketball Championship, according to South Carolina police, has been prosecuted.
According to the Greenville Police Department, players from Louisiana State University and the University of South Carolina got into a brawl on the court during the championship game at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Numerous onlookers leaped over the wall in response to the incident, according to investigators, “creating further chaos.”
According to officials, a fan wounded an employee by jumping over the barrier wall while seated in the stands. The fan was recognized as Georgian Trayron Milton. Milton is the brother of LSU guard Flau’jae Johnson, according to the Associated Press.
Police take action against the culprit
According to the police, the victim was seated at the scorer’s table on the court’s edge when Milton leaped over the barrier. According to the investigators, Milton approached the woman from behind, put pressure on her head, and stepped on her shoulders in order to jump over the table.
Milton was accused by the police of third-degree assault and battery, disorderly conduct, and other offenses.
With little over two minutes remaining, an intentional foul by 6-foot-7 South Carolina forward Kamilla Cardoso, who intentionally shoved 5-tenth-grade LSU player Johnson, set off the altercation, according to the Associated Press.
Officials claim that other onlookers leaped over the wall but were apprehended by law enforcement before they could enter the court. Officers escorted these spectators out of the arena.
